Eric Bauza, the modern voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and other popular Looney Tunes characters, died at a home in Los Angeles County on Sunday, officials said. He was 46.
His family announced the voice actor’s death on social media Sunday night.
“Eric Bauza, Emmy Award-winning voice actor and the modern voice of iconic Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, along with dozens of other beloved cartoon characters, has passed away suddenly,” a statement posted to Bauza’s Instagram account read. “More details to come.”
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner determined Bauza’s cause of death was hypertensive cardiovascular disease. The department said the manner of death was natural.
Bauza, a modern successor to Mel Blanc — the original voice of many Looney Tunes characters, often referred to as “The Man of a Thousand Voices” — also voiced Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Marvin the Martian, Elmer Fudd, and many more. He has won three Emmy Awards for his work in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
In a statement to NBC Los Angeles, his manager, Judy Coppage, called Bauza a “unique and versatile voice actor” who was well loved.
“His sudden passing is a shock to all of us, and he will be deeply missed. It’s a profound loss for his family, the animation industry and his fans,” Coppage said, in part. “As his longtime manager, the pleasure of watching him succeed and excel to become one of the most accomplished voices in animation was rewarding and thrilling.”
This is a developing story.
