The rumours are true; Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan have officially released their “Expectations” remix and fans all over are obsessing over the artists’ fresh and edgy take.
Rodrigo’s third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, has taken the hearts of the pop-culture fanbase and reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 charts. Her album has been named one of the most popular releases of the year, including its EPs, in the United States. The album dethroned Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl from the charts, giving Rodrigo a three-week streak atop the chart.
The album’s return to the top was largely fuelled by her “Expectations” remix featuring Roan, who has been a long-term friend of Rodrigo’s. This project has been one of their most popular and major mainstream projects, as fans not only got a remix but a music video as well.
Since the song’s release, the music video has racked up more than 21 million views on YouTube. The song’s debut was on Oct. 15, 2026.
The two pop stars have been friends since 2018. Roan and Rodrigo have been known to work together often, with Roan being one of the opening acts of Rodrigo’s Sour Tour back in 2023 and the Guts World Tour in 2024.
Rodrigo’s album has received 75,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in just the past week. It has also increased by 15% from the previous week, according to Billboard. Of the accumulated totals, 63,000 were streaming-equivalent album units, rounding out to a 19% increase.
The rest of the songs off the album generated a remarkable 67.14 million on-demand, official streams.
The singer continues hitting a trail of milestones with her album only being out for four months and debuting at No.1 on the charts. You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love has already spent two consecutive weeks at the top spot of the Billboard 200. Rodrigo’s album has yet to fall from the top five spots after 19 weeks on the charts.
